Disney Confirms Captain America Sequel and Release Date!

Marvel's The Avengers launches in theaters on May 4, 2012 and with the PR campaign now in full gear for that film, the time's apparently right for Disney to confirm details on another superhero movie in the works. The Walt Disney Studios just announced that the sequel to Marvel Studios' Captain America: The First Avenger will be released in theaters on April 4, 2014.

Per the short-but-sweet press release: "The second installment will pick-up where the highly anticipated Marvel's The Avengers (May 4, 2012) leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world."

Chris Evans will return as Steve Rogers with Samuel L. Jackson playing Nick Fury. There's no word yet on who - if anyone - else will be returning from 2011's Captain America.
