Interview with Miss Piggy on Fashion Week

From: openingceremony.us

Yes, it happened! We interviewed the one, the only Miss Piggy! And as you're about to read, she did not disappoint! Having flown into town to make her appearance at OC's FNO event tonight, the fashion icon talked to me about shopping and Argentina. Score something from our Opening Ceremony x Muppets collection at FNO, where we'll be seeing you and Miss Piggy soon!

Gillian Tozer: How does a star and fashion icon like yourself prepare for Fashion's Night Out and New York Fashion Week?

Miss Piggy: Like any haute couture professional, moi has been training for months to get ready for Fashion’s Night Out and New York Fashion Week. The air kisses, the Oh!-There’s-Another-Celebrity-Look-of-Surprise, the Across-The-Room-Who-Is-That-Anyway? wave; they all seem spontaneous, but they take a lots of practice. And then, of course, I prep around-the-clock with my “people” (i.e. stylists, colorists, publicists, apologists, etc) so that I see and am seen by absolutely everyone.

GT: Your beau Kermit always looks very dapper. Does he enjoy shopping? Do you shop together?
MP: Yes, Kermie is rather dapper, isn’t he? But he’s not much of a shopper. After all, most of the time he doesn’t even wear clothes at all — not that there’s anything wrong with that.

GT: This year, OC's Fashion's Night Out event is inspired by Argentina. Have you ever been, and what springs to mind when you think of Argentina?
MP: Argentina!? Gauchos! I don’t know what they are but I love to say it,  “Gaucho! Gaucho! Gaucho!” (He was one of the Marx brothers, right? I’m just guessing here). Actually, I have been to Buenos Aires, many times, but so far I’ve spent all my time at the Galerias Pacifico, a magnificent shopping center on Cordoba Avenue! I’ve been told that Argentina has many fabulous sights to see, but one must have priorities, and shopping is at the top of moi’s.

GT: How did you prepare for your role as editor-in-chief ofVogue Paris in your new film The Muppets?
MP: First, before going over to France, I insisted that everyone around me speak French at all times … but I couldn’t understand a word they were saying, so we dropped that after about ten minutes. Then, once I arrived, I met with all the designers in Paris and got one of everything they were making … to go. And finally, I spent a great deal of time in front of the mirror practicing my imperious fashion editor-in-chief look. It’s a lot like my diva-with-a-splitting-headache look, but not quite as lethal.

Come meet Miss Piggy at OC's Fashion's Night Out event tonight, and stay tuned for more on the Opening Ceremony x Muppets collection!
