Disney is developing a film based on a Disneyland attraction that never got off the ground. The film will be based on the Museum of the Weird, which Walt Disney wanted to do in the 1960s but never got off the ground. The idea was to spotlight surreal exhibits such as "ghostly organists, magic carts, talking chairs" and more. Some aspects were incorporated into the Haunted Mansion, which it was meant to tie into.
Disney is in talks with screenwriter Ahmet Zappa about the project. Zappa is also working on a film that may be inspired by the company's Enchanted Tiki Room.
